Delta Fence Installation: The Houston Owner’s Guide

Delta fence installation in Houston typically runs $3,500 – $9,000 installed, depending on linear footage, post spacing, and whether we’re replacing an existing fence or setting new posts from scratch. Most Houston homeowners call us after a storm or a long stretch of heavy rain exposes that a section of fence has rotted at the base, pulled loose at the post, or shifted out of line. It starts small: a gate that drags, a post that leans after a hard wind, or pickets that cup and crack in the Gulf Coast humidity. By the time you notice, the structure underneath is usually further gone than it looks from the curb.

We keep Delta-compatible hardware and standard 4×4 and 6×6 post kits on our trucks, so a straightforward section replacement or full fence install can often be quoted on the first visit. If you’ve got a Delta fence that’s failing, call (254) 527-5340 and we’ll give you a written price before any work starts.

Which Delta Models This Applies To

Delta distributes a range of residential fence lines through the Texas supply market, most commonly vinyl privacy fencing, aluminum picket fencing, and wood shadowbox and board-on-board systems. The majority of Delta fence installations we see in Houston are vinyl privacy fence, which is exactly why so many fail the same way: hairline cracks at the post base where the vinyl meets the concrete footer, caused by our expansive clay soil shifting through wet-dry cycles.

If you’re trying to identify your Delta fence line, look for the manufacturer sticker on the back side of a post cap or the inside of a gate rail. Most Delta vinyl posts are 5″x5″ with a routed rail slot rather than a bracket system, while their aluminum lines use a 2″x2″ post with a pre-punched bracket. If the sticker is gone, measure the post and count screw holes. A single routed channel means a slide-in rail; a bracket with two screws per side means a face-mount system. There’s a compatibility gotcha here: Delta’s routed vinyl rail system does not accept off-the-shelf generic rail brackets cleanly, so mixing brands often creates a loose joint that fails in the first big wind. We stock OEM Delta rail hangers and post caps in white and tan, and for older discontinued matte colors, we can order Delta-spec aftermarket replacements that match the original profile.

Signs Your Delta Fence Installation Is Failing

  • Post lean after rain. Houston’s clay soil in neighborhoods like Meyerland expands when wet and shrinks when dry, which slowly works posts loose. If a post leans more than a few degrees, the footer likely wasn’t deep enough or was poured too narrow. Straightening it without resetting the post means it will move again.
  • Cracked or split pickets at the bottom rail. Vinyl becomes brittle in sustained heat, and a Houston summer gives us plenty of that. When pickets crack along the screw line, the panel loses its grab and starts bowing.
  • Gate that drags or won’t latch. This is usually a post that has tilted, not a hinge problem. The gate post takes the most stress on any fence, and when it goes out of plumb, the gate follows.
  • Gaps between pickets that weren’t there before. Wood moves with humidity. If your board-on-board starts showing daylight, the pickets have shrunk or the rails have warped.
  • White chalky residue on vinyl rails. That’s surface oxidation and it means the vinyl has been weather-stressed. It doesn’t always mean failure is imminent, but it tells us the panels have seen serious UV exposure and are more prone to cracking during installation.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A full Delta fence installation in Houston runs $3,500 – $9,000. A typical 150-linear-foot vinyl privacy fence falls around $5,200 – $6,500, including tear-out of the old fence, new post footers, panels, rails, caps, and hardware. Smaller jobs, like a 50-foot section replacement, usually run $1,800 – $3,200, depending on how many posts need to be reset.

What drives the number up or down: total linear feet, how many posts are involved, whether the old footers need to be dug out and replaced, gate count, and whether you want a matching gate hardware upgrade. Every quote we write lists parts and labor separately, so you see exactly what the Delta materials cost and what our crew charges to set them. The price we put in writing is the price you pay. If something on the Delta side fails inside 365 days, we come back and fix it at no charge, under the 365-Day Done Right Promise. That’s in writing on every job.

DIY or Call Us?

There are a few things worth checking yourself before you call: confirm the posts are still plumb with a level, check that gate hinges are tight, and look for standing water at the fence line. Those checks take ten minutes and help you describe the problem.

What we’d not recommend doing yourself is digging out and resetting a fence post in Houston clay. The hole needs to go below the frost line and well past the topsoil, which here means at least 24 to 30 inches, and the concrete needs to be set with the post braced perfectly plumb while it cures. Nothing about that is impossible, but a post set slightly out of plumb will fight the gate from day one, and digging through that clay in August is a particular kind of misery. Trevor Nash has watched enough DIY post replacements get redone two years later to know it’s cheaper to do it right the first time.
