Delta Driveway & Pavers: The Houston Owner’s Guide

Yes, we stock and install Delta-compatible driveway pavers and paver replacement parts across Houston, and a typical paver driveway installation runs $7,000 – $18,000 depending on square footage, base prep, and paver line. Most driveways and paver patios don’t fail all at once. You notice one sunken corner, a cracked paver that wobbles underfoot, or a section that holds water after a hard Houston rain. That’s the part owners call us about first: not the whole driveway, just the spot that’s no longer doing its job.

We’re an independent contractor, not affiliated with Delta’s paver manufacturing arm, but we work with Delta-brand paver lines and quality equivalents every week. The good news is that paver systems are modular by design. One failing section rarely means tearing out the whole drive. It usually means pulling a patch, fixing the substrate (the compacted base layer underneath), and setting new or salvaged pavers back in place.

Which Delta Models This Applies To

Delta’s paver and hardscape line spans a few product families, and the compatibility gotcha most Houston owners hit is thickness. Delta driveway-rated pavers are typically 60mm and 80mm units. Patio pavers, by contrast, are often 50mm or less. If you put a patio-grade paver in a driveway that sees a full-size pickup or an SUV every day, it will crack at the corners within a season or two. We see it constantly in neighborhoods like Meyerland and Westbury, where driveways carry real weight and the clay soil underneath shifts with every wet-dry cycle.

When we match a paver, we look for the series stamp on the underside of an existing unit, measure thickness with a caliper, and note the edge style. Delta-compatible interlocking pavers use a spacer-lug system that differs from square-edge products. OEM Delta pavers are the safest match for color and dimension. Quality aftermarket equivalents can work when the series is discontinued, but color variation may show against your existing field. We’ll show you samples side by side before we write the price.

Signs Your Delta Driveway & Pavers Is Failing

  • Pavers rock or wobble when you step on them. The sand joint between units has washed out, and the paver is no longer locked against its neighbors. Left alone, edges start chipping and the wobble spreads.
  • Water ponds in one low spot after rain. The base layer has settled unevenly underneath, usually because Houston’s expansive clay soil dried out and contracted, or because water found a channel under the edge. The pavers themselves are often fine; the base needs releveling.
  • Hairline cracks radiating from one paver’s corner. The point load from a tire or a heavy object exceeded what that unit could take. This almost always traces back to a thickness mismatch or a void in the base directly under that spot.
  • Sand is washing out at the joints every time it storms. Joint sand holds the system together. If it’s migrating, the edge restraint has failed or the slope isn’t directing water away. Re-sanding alone won’t fix it; the edge needs attention.
  • A ridge or dip has formed across a section of the drive. Tree roots, a failed utility trench, or a soft spot in the original base are the usual suspects near the Meyerland area’s oak-heavy lots. The fix is surgical: pull the section, rebuild the base, reset the pavers.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A remodeled primary bathroom with a soaking tub and walk-in shower

For a full Delta-style paver driveway installation in Houston, plan on $7,000 – $18,000. A partial repair, where we pull and reset a failed section of 100 to 300 square feet, typically lands between $1,500 and $4,500. A paver patio runs $3,500 – $11,000. What moves the number is base depth, access for equipment, the paver line’s unit price, and whether we’re hauling off the old surface or working over bare ground.

Every quote we write includes the written line-item price before work starts, pavers and base material, labor, and haul-off. We also include a written 365-Day Done Right Promise: if a repaired or installed section fails inside that year, we come back and make it right at no charge. No service call fee, no re-inspection fee. That’s the Kingswell standard, and it’s been the operating rule since 2004.

DIY or Call Us?

Paver work is not high-tension work like a garage spring, and for a small patio section, a careful homeowner can re-sand joints or reset a few wobblers. The honest split is this: if the problem stays localized and the base still drains, it’s a weekend project. If you see a dip, a ridge, standing water, or cracking that repeats after a previous fix, the base has failed, and that means excavation and compaction with equipment most homeowners don’t keep in the garage. Digging out and rebuilding a Houston clay base without a plate compactor usually makes the problem worse.

We’d rather you call us for an honest look at the section than spend two weekends and $300 on materials that sink again by fall. Call (254) 527-5340 and we’ll walk the drive with you, show you what’s failing underneath, and give you a straight number.
