ES Windows Fence Installation: The Houston Owner’s Guide
ES Windows fence installation in Houston typically runs $3,500 – $9,000 depending on the fence line length, post spacing, and whether the job includes tear-out of the old fence. We stock ES Windows-compatible fence installation parts on the truck for most common series models and can usually have the job scheduled within the week. Most homeowners discover the part has failed when a fence section starts leaning after a heavy Houston rain, or when the latch side of the gate drags against the ground and won’t close square anymore.
We’re an independent Houston contractor, not affiliated with the ES Windows brand itself, but our crew has been installing and repairing their fence hardware long enough to know the failure points before we dig the first post hole.
Which ES Windows Models This Applies To

ES Windows fence hardware shows up on a few different series, and the compatibility gotcha is the post-to-rail bracket spacing. On models manufactured before 2018, the bracket centers run 3.75 inches; on newer runs, they shifted to 4.25 inches. If you pull a bracket off an older section and try to match it with a newer part, the holes won’t line up, and you’ll end up drilling through the rail face, which weakens the connection and voids any manufacturer coverage.
To identify what you need, look for a small stamped code on the inside face of the hinge post, near where the rail seats in. The code usually starts with “ESF” followed by four numbers and a letter. That letter denotes the series, and it’s the single most useful piece of information if you call us. If the stamp has worn off, measure the distance from the top of the bottom rail to the center of the lowest bracket screw; we can match it from that.
On the OEM versus aftermarket question, our honest take is this: for fence installation hardware, quality aftermarket brackets from a machine shop beat the OEM parts in Houston’s humidity. The OEM zinc coating on older ES Windows parts is thin, and after three or four years of Gulf Coast moisture and sprinkler splash, the corrosion creeps into the screw seats. A hot-dip galvanized aftermarket bracket costs about the same and holds up longer here.

Signs Your ES Windows Fence Installation Is Failing
- Gate drag on the latch side. The hinge post has started to lean inward, usually because the concrete footing wasn’t deep enough for Houston’s clay soil, which expands and contracts with every wet-dry cycle. You’ll see a visible gap open at the top hinge first.
- Rusted bracket screws that won’t tighten. The screw seats have corroded out inside the post. You can replace the screw once, but if the seat is gone, the plate needs to be moved or the post replaced.
- Warped pickets pulling away from the rail. This is the Texas sun doing its work on the backer clips. Once the clips lose temper, the pickets vibrate loose in the wind and the whole section starts to rattle.
- Sagging gate that used to swing clean. The tension adjustment on the gate hinges has walked loose. It’s rarely the hinge itself; it’s almost always the mounting plate shifting against a softened post.
- Post wobble you can feel by hand. If you can rock a post more than half an inch with a push, the footing has cracked below grade. In Houston, this usually means the original hole wasn’t dug below the frost line and the soil movement finished the job.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

For a standard Houston yard with three sides of fence, ES Windows fence installation runs $3,500 – $9,000 installed. The spread comes down to a few things: the length of the fence line, whether we’re tearing out concrete footings from the old posts, the soil conditions at your address, and how much of the existing hardware can be salvaged versus replaced.
Every quote is parts plus labor, broken out line by line, in writing before we start. If the post footings near Meyerland or Bellaire need to go deeper because of the clay, you’ll see that as its own line item, not as a surprise later. We set posts below grade, use hot-dip galvanized brackets, and back the installation with our 365-Day Done Right Promise. If a post shifts or a gate stops closing square within that year, we come back and fix it at no charge. That’s in writing, on every job.
DIY or Call Us?
Fence installation isn’t high-tension work like a garage door spring, but there are still real ways to get hurt. Setting posts means digging 24 to 30 inches down in Houston clay, which fights you the whole way, and mixing and pouring concrete is a back injury waiting to happen if you’re not used to it. A misaligned post might seem like a do-over, but if it’s set in concrete, the do-over means jackhammering, and that’s where most DIY fence jobs end.
What you can safely do is walk the fence line and mark the sections that move. Check the hinges, the brackets, the picket clips. That list is worth having before you call, because it helps us bring the right parts on the first trip. If you’d rather skip the diagnosis, that’s fine too. Call (254) 527-5340 and we’ll send a background-checked, uniformed technician to walk the line with you.
FAQs

A properly set ES Windows-compatible fence installation should last 15 to 20 years in Houston, with the posts and brackets being the parts that determine the lifespan. The pickets may need replacement earlier if they’re in full sun all day; Houston’s UV exposure breaks down the finish on cheaper coating after about eight to ten years. With galvanized hardware and footings below grade, the frame usually outlasts the look of the fence.
In most cases, yes, we can repair the failed sections rather than pull the whole fence line. If the post footings are solid and the rails aren’t rotted, we can swap brackets, replace picket clips, and re-hang gates without tearing out what’s still good. Call (254) 527-5340 for an honest read on what’s salvageable, and we’ll tell you straight whether repair makes sense over replacement.
A typical single-family ES Windows fence installation in Houston takes two to three working days from tear-out to final gate adjustment. Weather can stretch that, especially if we’re digging in the heavy clay right after rain. We’ll give you a defined arrival window with your written quote, so you know exactly when the crew is coming and when we’ll be done.
We stock the most common ES Windows-compatible fence brackets, hinge plates, and picket clips on the truck for Houston service calls, so we can often complete a repair the same day we diagnose it. For unusual series or less common post sizes, we source from a handful of suppliers and can have parts in hand within a few business days. We also stock parts for KraftMaid cabinetry, Cambria countertops, and Silestone surfaces for our remodeling work.
If you’re ready to get the fence fixed right, call (254) 527-5340 or reach out to the Penhallow Remodeling Houston office.
