Jerith Roofing: The Houston Owner’s Guide
Jerith roofing parts are typically 8″ aluminum extruded profiles that lock into place over a composite or metal base plate, and replacement in Houston generally runs $850 – $2,800 installed depending on how much of the run has failed and whether the underlayment beneath the panels is still intact. We keep the most common Jerith profiles in stock and can match most parts in 2 – 4 business days if a special order is required. Homeowners usually discover a Jerith roofing failure the same way: a leak appears on the patio furniture, a panel lifts at the corner after a spring storm, or the drip edge shows a line of rust that wasn’t there last fall.
If a Jerith roof panel has worked loose or the finish is failing, don’t wait until the underlayment rots. Replacement is straightforward once the correct profile is matched, and our crews do Jerith-compatible repairs across the Houston metro every month. We’re an independent service provider, not a Jerith dealer, which means we match the part rather than push the line.
Which Jerith Models This Applies To

Jerith manufactures aluminum patio covers, carports, screen rooms, and awnings in several profile series. The two most common in Houston are the standard residential pan profile (a flat-bottom pan with interlocking ribs, measuring roughly 8″ face width) and the heavier commercial profile used on larger spans where the beam spacing exceeds 10 feet. If your panel has a raised center rib, you’re likely working with the pan profile. If it’s a three-rib pattern with deeper legs, it’s the commercial series.
The compatibility gotcha most Houston homeowners hit: Jerith has changed the lock dimension on their pan profile twice in the past 20 years. A panel from 2003 will not seat cleanly into a base plate made in 2019, even though both measure 8″ across the face. The difference is in the leg return, the small fold at the bottom of the panel that snaps under the retainer. That’s 1/8″ of a difference on older profiles, but it’s enough to let wind lift the panel and drive rain underneath. When we arrive, we measure the leg return and the rib crown with a caliper before ordering anything.
OEM Jerith panels are still manufactured and are the right call when you need a finish-matched repair on a roof less than five years old. For older roofs where the original color has chalked or faded, a quality aftermarket pan profile often matches better and costs 20 – 30% less. We’ll show you both options and a sample of the finish before we order.

Signs Your Jerith Roofing Is Failing
Here’s what we see most often on Jerith covers in Houston. If any of these sound familiar, the part is already failing and the fix gets more expensive the longer it’s ignored.
- Panels lifting at the edges. This is almost always a leg-return mismatch or a failed retainer clip. Wind gets under the lifted edge and works the panel free, one storm at a time. Left alone, a lifted panel bends and becomes unrepairable.
- A chalky or powdery finish that won’t rinse clean. Aluminum oxidizes in Houston humidity, and once the paint or anodized surface breaks down, the bare metal starts to pit. That pitting leads to pinholes, and pinholes leak in places you won’t see until the ceiling is stained.
- Water stains on the patio ceiling or along the wall where the cover attaches. This means the flashing or the lap joint between panels has already failed. By the time you see the stain, water has been getting in for a while.
- A constant drip along the outer beam, even in light rain. This is usually a failed drip edge or a panel that has shifted out of its slope. Houston’s downpours find every low spot, so a small sag becomes a steady leak fast.
- Corrosion or rust staining at screw heads. Galvanic corrosion between the steel fasteners and the aluminum panels is common near the coast, and even inland Houston sees enough humidity to make it happen. The screws fail first, then the panel around them.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

Jerith roofing replacement in Houston typically runs $850 – $2,800 installed. The range hinges on two things: how many linear feet of panel need to come out, and whether the underlayment (the water-shedding layer beneath the panels) is still sound. A 12-foot run with good underlayment and four matching panels lands near the bottom of that range. A 40-foot cover with rotted underlayment, failed flashing, and mismatched panels lands at the top.
Every quote is written before any work starts, and the number stays fixed. The line items separate parts from labor, so you can see exactly what each panel costs and exactly what the crew is paid to install it. If a repair fails within 365 days, we come back and fix it at no charge. That’s the 365-Day Done Right Promise, and it’s printed on every contract we write in Houston. We also pull any required permits and stand behind the work with a written guarantee.
DIY or Call Us?
Aluminum patio cover panels are lighter than they look, but they’re not a weekend project for most homeowners. The panel has to be slipped into place at the correct angle and locked under the retainer while working on a ladder or scaffold, and one wrong bend at the leg return ruins a $200 panel. The underlayment work is also more involved than most people expect, since the old sealant has to be scraped clean before the new panel seats flat.
What you can safely do is remove debris, check that the gutters at the roofline are clear, and note whether any panels feel loose when pushed gently from below. If you see fasteners backing out or a panel that moves, call us at (254) 527-5340 and describe what you found. We’ll tell you over the phone whether it’s something we should address now or whether it can wait until the next storm season passes.
FAQs

A Jerith aluminum roof lasts 25 to 35 years in Houston if the installation is correct and the fasteners haven’t corroded. What shortens that lifespan locally is pooled water from our heavy afternoon storms, which sits in low spots and eats through the finish within a decade if the slope is off. Steeper covers with good drainage routinely hit the upper end of that range.
If your cover is 15 years old and leaking at the lap joints, a repair is usually worth doing. If it’s 22 years old and panning across a 40-foot span toward a flat slope, a full replacement is the better money. Call (254) 527-5340 and Trevor will give you a straight read on which way to go.
Yes, some leaks can be repaired with seam sealant and tightening, but only when the panel itself is still in good shape and the leak is at a lap joint or a flashing edge. If the aluminum is pitted, cracked, or the leg return is bent, repair is throwing money at a part that’s already done. We’ll tell you which one you have after one look.
Most panel replacements take one day. That includes removing the old panels, inspecting and cleaning the underlayment, installing the new panels, and re-flashing the wall connection. Larger covers or ones with underlayment damage can stretch into a second day, and we’ll tell you that before we start, in writing.
We keep the most common Jerith pan profiles, retainers, and drip edges stocked locally for fast turnaround. Special-order finishes and commercial series profiles usually arrive in 2 – 4 business days. To check if yours is a stock profile, call (254) 527-5340 with the cover dimensions and a photo of the panel end.
