Toto Roofing: The Houston Owner’s Guide
Toto has never manufactured a roofing system or roofing component. If you own a Toto product with a failing “roofing” part, you are almost certainly dealing with one of two things: a Toto bathroom fixture (toilet, bidet, or washlet) with a failed tank lid or internal component, or a home in Houston where the actual roof needs work and someone used “Toto” as shorthand for a brand they thought you’d recognize. We stock and install genuine Toto plumbing components and we handle full roof replacement in Houston at $8,000 – $20,000, but we want to be straight with you from the first sentence so you’re not chasing a part that doesn’t exist.
Here’s what we see in Houston regularly: a homeowner searches for “Toto roofing” because a toilet tank lid cracked, or a washlet seat stopped heating, or water is seeping around the base of a Toto Neorest. The word “roof” got tangled in the search because the tank lid sits on top. If that’s you, you’re in the right place. We carry Toto OEM parts and install them the same day in most Houston neighborhoods. If you actually need roof work, we do that too, and the number is the same either way: (254) 527-5340.
Which Toto Models This Applies To

If the failing part is on a Toto fixture rather than your actual roof, model identification matters more than almost anything else. Toto has manufactured dozens of lines over the years, and a fill valve from a 2007 Toto Drake will not fit a 2023 Toto Neorest without modification. The model number is stamped inside the tank on most Toto toilets, or on the underside of the lid for washlet seats. Look for a prefix like CST, MS, SW, or ST followed by numbers. For example, a Toto Drake is typically stamped CST744E or CST744S. A Toto Ultramax II is MS604114CEFG. Write that down before you call us, because it determines which parts we bring on the truck.
For Toto washlet seats (the bidet-style seats with warm water and heated air), the model lives on a sticker on the bottom of the seat or on the side of the remote. Common Houston service calls involve the Toto Washlet C100, C200, S350e, and S550e. The S350e and S550e share several internal components, but the C-series does not. OEM Toto parts carry the advantage of exact fitment and no guesswork. Quality aftermarket parts from brands like Korky exist for Toto fill valves and flappers, and we stock both, but we will tell you the honest tradeoff: OEM costs more up front and almost never needs a return visit. Aftermarket can work fine on older Drakes and saves $15 – $40. We’ll give you both numbers before we touch a wrench.

Signs Your Toto Roofing Is Failing
If the problem is a Toto fixture presenting as a “roof” issue, here are the five most common symptoms we see on Houston service calls:
- Water pooling on the floor around the base. This is usually a failed wax ring or a cracked tank-to-bowl gasket, not a roof leak. Houston’s clay-heavy soils shift with moisture swings, and over time that movement can break the seal under a toilet. We see it most often in older homes in Meyerland and Bellaire.
- A cracked or shattered tank lid. The “roof” of the toilet. Toto lids are porcelain and they break when something heavy drops on them, or when the lid is set down hard on a misaligned tank. OEM replacement lids run $60 – $140 depending on the model. Aftermarket lids exist but often have a slightly different shade of white or bone.
- The toilet runs constantly or refills every few minutes. This is almost always the fill valve or flapper. Toto’s older flappers are notoriously picky about aftermarket substitutes; if the flapper doesn’t seat perfectly, the toilet cycles all night. A Korky replacement made for Toto works, but a generic flapper often doesn’t.
- The washlet seat stops heating water or air. On Toto C-series and S-series seats, the ceramic heating element is the usual failure point. It’s not a user-serviceable part, and opening a washlet seat yourself voids the warranty and risks electrical shock. Houston’s hard water accelerates scale buildup on the heating element, which shortens its life to roughly 5 – 7 years here versus 8 – 10 in soft-water regions.
- Water stains on the ceiling below an upstairs bathroom. This one is not the Toto at all. It’s a roof leak or a failed wax ring that has been dripping long enough to soak the subfloor. Houston’s storm season makes this a spring and fall regular. If you see a ceiling stain below a bathroom, shut off the water to that toilet and call us.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

For Toto plumbing component work in Houston, here’s what you should expect to pay, installed:
- Toto OEM tank lid replacement: $60 – $140 for the part, no labor charge if we’re already on site for another repair. Otherwise a standard service call applies.
- Fill valve and flapper replacement (Toto or Korky): $120 – $220 installed, parts included. We stock both on the truck.
- Wax ring replacement and toilet reseating: $180 – $350 installed, depending on whether we need to pull and reset the bowl. This includes a new ring, shims if the floor is uneven, and new closet bolts.
- Washlet seat heating element replacement: $250 – $600 installed, depending on the model. The part is the bulk of that cost. We will quote the part before ordering it.
- Full roof replacement in Houston (if the real problem is the roof): $8,000 – $20,000, which covers tear-off, underlayment, decking repair where needed, and architectural shingle installation. Houston’s wind and hail exposure means we will not cut corners on underlayment.
Every one of these numbers is a written line-item quote before we start. The price you sign is the price you pay. No change orders because we found a surprise. Every Toto repair and every Houston roof replacement carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise in writing, and if the repair fails inside that year, we return at no charge, no service call fee, no re-inspection fee.
DIY or Call Us?
Here’s the honest split. You can safely check a few things yourself before you call: confirm the model number stamped inside the tank, check whether the water shutoff valve behind the toilet actually turns, and note whether the leak is constant or only happens after a flush. Those three facts save us time and save you a second visit.
What you should not do is open a Toto washlet seat. The heating element operates on line voltage, and the inside of that seat holds a capacitor that can discharge even when the unit is unplugged. This is not a “watch a YouTube video and grab a screwdriver” repair. Likewise, if you have a cast-iron toilet flange that has rusted through in a Houston slab home, the fix involves cutting concrete. That’s not a weekend project. Call us at (254) 527-5340, tell the live person who answers what the model number says, and we’ll bring the right part the first time.
FAQs

A well-maintained Toto toilet will run 15 – 25 years in Houston homes, though components like the flapper and fill valve typically need replacement every 4 – 7 years. Washlet seats run 7 – 12 years, with the heating element usually failing first. Houston’s hard water shortens both of those numbers by a year or two compared to national averages. Call (254) 527-5340 and we’ll tell you honestly whether your unit is worth repairing or replacing.
No. Porcelain does not bond reliably when glued, and a repaired lid will crack again, often at the worst possible moment. Replacement is the only fix that lasts. We order OEM Toto lids by model number and they typically arrive in 3 – 5 business days. Call us with your model number and we’ll give you the exact price over the phone.
Most fill valves, flappers, and wax rings take 30 – 60 minutes once we’re on site. Washlet heating element replacements run 45 – 90 minutes depending on the model. We arrive in a defined window, in uniform, and we leave the bathroom cleaner than we found it. That’s the Kingswell standard, and it’s been that way since 2004.
We stock common Toto fill valves, flappers, and Korky-compatible replacements on the truck, along with wax rings and closet bolts. Tank lids and washlet heating elements are model-specific and we order them by model number, which is why we ask you to check the stamp inside the tank before we come out. Aftermarket parts for Toto Drakes and older models are stocked as well, and we’ll always quote you the OEM cost and the aftermarket cost side by side.
