Tremron Driveway & Pavers: The Houston Owner’s Guide

Tremron paver driveway installation in Houston typically runs $7,000 – $18,000 depending on square footage, base prep, and drainage work. We stock Tremron-compatible pavers and matching edge restraints in our Houston yard, and most homeowners with a failed section can get a written repair estimate within a few days of calling. The usual discovery point is a sunken area near the driveway apron or a paver that’s cracked and shifted out of line after a heavy Houston rain.

What you’re seeing isn’t just cosmetic. Houston’s clay soil expands and contracts with every wet-dry cycle, and a paver that looked fine in March can be sitting in a low spot by June. The pavers themselves rarely fail first. What fails is the base underneath them, or the edge restraint that was never properly pinned down. We’ll get into exactly what that means below.

Which Tremron Models This Applies To

Tremron manufactures pavers in several product lines, and the compatibility details matter when you’re replacing a section rather than redoing the whole driveway. The most common Tremron lines we work with in Houston include the Amsterdam, Old Town, and Copa series. Each has a different dimensional profile: Old Town pavers run thicker at 60mm, while some Copa styles come in at 50mm. Matching thickness matters because a thinner replacement paver sitting next to a thicker original will never sit flush, no matter how carefully it’s set.

If you’re not sure which Tremron paver you have, check the edge of a loose paver or look for the manufacturer stamp on the underside. The stamp usually includes the series name and the plant location. Florida-made Tremron pavers and Georgia-made Tremron pavers have slightly different color blending, so if you’re patching a section, we always match the paver in daylight before we quote it. We’re an independent Houston contractor, not affiliated with Tremron, but we’ve installed and repaired enough of their product to know which series blend well and which ones will always show a patch line. For most repairs, we recommend staying with the original Tremron paver rather than an aftermarket equivalent. The color match on a driveway that’s seen five or six Houston summers is almost impossible to replicate with another brand.

Signs Your Tremron Driveway & Pavers Is Failing

  • Low spots that hold water after rain. This is base failure, not paver failure. Houston’s clay soil shifts, and when the compacted base underneath settles unevenly, the pavers follow it down. You’ll see standing water in the same spot an hour after everything else has dried.
  • Pavers rocking underfoot or clacking when you drive over them. A paver that moves means the sand joint between pavers has washed out and the base has lost its grip. Left alone, the movement spreads outward and more pavers loosen.
  • Gaps opening up along the driveway edge. The edge restraint either wasn’t installed or has pulled loose. Once the edge opens, pavers start migrating outward, and the whole field loses structural integrity from the outside in.
  • Cracks running across multiple pavers in a straight line. This usually traces back to a joint in the concrete sub-slab underneath, or a tree root pushing up from below. Replacing the cracked pavers without addressing what’s under them means you’ll be replacing them again next year.
  • Washed-out sand between joints, especially after heavy storms. Houston downpours move a lot of water fast. If your joint sand is gone, water gets under the pavers and starts eroding the base from below. You can’t see the damage until the pavers drop, and by then it’s already a repair.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A remodeled family room with new windows and a window seat

A full Tremron paver driveway installation in Houston runs $7,000 – $18,000. At the low end, you’re looking at a smaller driveway, straightforward access, and decent soil that needs minimal additional base work. The high end includes larger square footage, poor drainage that requires additional excavation, or a driveway that needs a new concrete sub-slab poured first.

For repairs, the math changes. Replacing a single sunken section and recompacting the base typically runs $800 – $2,500 depending on how many square feet are affected and how much base material has to come out. Every quote we write includes the pavers, the base material, the labor, and haul-off of the old material. You get a written price before any work starts, and that number doesn’t change at the door. We also back the repair with our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if it fails inside the guarantee window, we come back and fix it at no charge. That’s in writing, every time.

DIY or Call Us?

There are things you can safely check yourself. Pull up a loose paver and look at what’s underneath. If you see sand that’s damp and compacted, you’re probably dealing with a joint-sand issue. If you see mud or standing water, the base is compromised and you’re beyond a weekend fix. Replacing joint sand is doable for a determined homeowner, but recompacting a failed base is not a light afternoon project. It requires removing the affected pavers, excavating the soft material, adding and compacting new base, and resetting the pavers to the correct grade.

Paver work itself isn’t high-tension dangerous like a garage door spring, but it is heavy and it does carry real safety risks: you’re lifting 20-to-40-pound pavers, cutting stone with a saw, and working at ground level with your hands and knees under load. A dropped paver can break a toe or worse. We’d rather walk your driveway with you first. Call (254) 527-5340 and we’ll give you an honest read on what needs to happen. Give me the straight story on what you need, and I’ll give you the straight number on what it costs.
