Tremron Home Additions & ADU: The Houston Owner’s Guide

If you’re planning a Tremron-paired home addition or ADU in Houston, you’re looking at a real installed range of $45,000 to $130,000 for a home addition, and $90,000 to $220,000 for a detached ADU. We stock Tremron-compatible pavers, wall block, and hardscape materials on our trucks and can match existing Tremron product lines for additions that tie into your current hardscaping. Most Houston homeowners call us when they realize their existing Tremron pavers or retaining wall block need to be extended, matched, or repaired as part of a bigger addition, and the new material doesn’t line up with the old.

Call (254) 527-5340

What we see most often in Houston: a homeowner has a Tremron paver patio or driveway from ten years ago, decides to build an ADU or add a room, and the excavation or new foundation work disturbs the existing Tremron layout. They need matching product, correct base reinstatement, and someone who understands how Tremron pavers behave in Houston’s clay soil and rainfall patterns. That’s the call we take most weeks.

Which Tremron Models This Applies To

A wide opening with a new beam where the kitchen wall was removed

Tremron manufactures a wide line of concrete pavers, retaining wall block, and hardscape products, and the compatibility question comes down to the specific product family you have. The most common Tremron lines we see in Houston are the Mega Olde Towne series, the Bullnose Cobble, the Holland Stone, and the retaining wall systems under the Tremron name. Each has a different dimensional profile: Mega Olde Towne runs roughly 6×9 inches with a tumbled edge, Bullnose Cobble has a rounded top edge suited for steps and caps, and Holland Stone is a rectangular paver at approximately 4×8 inches.

Here’s the compatibility gotcha most people don’t learn until it’s too late: Tremron changes paver molds over time, and a paver from 2015 may not sit flush with a paver from 2025 even when both are called “Mega Olde Towne.” Color batch variation is even more common. Houston sun fades pavers unevenly, so a new paver placed next to an old one will look brighter for the first year or two. We match as closely as the current production allows, and we’re honest when a perfect match isn’t achievable. For additions, that often means we recommend a deliberate band, border, or transition so the new and old sections look intentional rather than patched.

OEM Tremron product is the benchmark. There are aftermarket equivalents from other Texas manufacturers, but we stock Tremron or Tremron-spec product when matching existing work. The price difference is marginal, and using the actual Tremron product means the dimensions, chamfer, and texture line up properly. When you’re building a home addition or ADU, the hardscape should look like it was planned from day one, not added as an afterthought.

Signs Your Tremron Home Additions & ADU Is Failing

Most of the failures we see in Houston aren’t the Tremron pavers themselves failing. They’re the base, the edge restraint, or the drainage around them. Here’s what to look for:

  • Pavers sinking or dipping in a low spot. This is almost always a base failure underneath, not a paver problem. Houston’s expansive clay soils shrink and swell with moisture, and if the base wasn’t compacted right or the soil shifted, the pavers follow. A dip of more than 3/4 inch means the base needs to come out and go back in properly.
  • Gaps opening between pavers at the edge of the addition. When a new structure goes in, the excavation disturbs the edge restraint. Without a solid edge, the whole field of pavers starts to wander outward. You’ll see it first at the corners and along the driveway edge.
  • White chalky residue (efflorescence) spreading across the surface. This is salts migrating through the concrete as water moves through the pavers. It’s common in Houston’s humidity and doesn’t mean the paver failed, but it does mean water is sitting where it shouldn’t, usually because drainage was never addressed.
  • Cracked or spalled pavers near a new foundation wall. When a new ADU or addition goes in, backfill around the foundation settles. Pavers over that backfill crack because the support under them compressed unevenly. We fix this by re-compacting the base and replacing the damaged units.
  • Water pooling against the new structure after rain. Houston gets 49 inches of rain a year on average, and if the grade wasn’t adjusted when the addition went in, water runs toward the new wall instead of away from it. That water finds its way into the paver base and eventually into the foundation.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A garage converted into a guest room and home office

For a Tremron-related paver or hardscape rebuild tied to a home addition or ADU in Houston, most jobs land between $3,500 and $11,000 depending on square footage, access, and how much of the old base needs to be excavated and replaced. This is on top of the home addition cost itself, which runs $45,000 to $130,000 in the Houston market, and ADU construction at $90,000 to $220,000. The hardscape is usually a line item inside the bigger project, but when it’s a repair or re-match on its own, the numbers above apply.

What drives the price: the depth of the existing base (if it was done wrong the first time, we’re removing and redoing it), the Tremron product line you need matched, the square footage, and access for equipment. A paver patio rebuild on flat ground is cheaper than a section of driveway that needs a compactor and a concrete saw. You’ll get a written price before any work starts, with the material cost, labor, base, and disposal broken out as separate line items. The number we hand you is the number on the invoice. If the work fails inside 365 days, we come back and make it right for free. That’s our Done Right Promise, and it’s in writing on every project we do in Houston.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely inspect your Tremron pavers yourself: look for the dips, gaps, and pooling I described above. Mark the spots with chalk and watch them after a heavy rain. That information helps us quote your job faster. What you should not do is start pulling pavers and re-compacting base on your own, especially near a new foundation or utility lines. Houston homes have shallow utility runs, and a shovel in the wrong spot gets expensive fast. Base work also needs a plate compactor and proper moisture control to hold in Houston’s expansive clay. A homeowner with a hand tamper will get a result that looks fine for six months and then settles again.

If you’re dealing with a failed section of Tremron pavers around a new addition, call us at (254) 527-5340. We’ll walk the site, tell you what’s actually failing, and give you a written number. If it’s something you can handle with a rubber mallet and some sand, we’ll tell you that too. Give me the straight story on what you need, and I’ll give you the straight number on what it costs.
