ViewLux Fence Installation: The Houston Owner’s Guide
ViewLux fence installation in Houston typically runs $3,500 – $9,000 for a complete vinyl privacy fence replacement, including tear-out of the old line and haul-away. We stock ViewLux-compatible posts, rails, and pickets on our trucks, so we can usually match your existing panel profile the same visit. Most Houston homeowners discover a problem the hard way: a post leans after a hard rain, a gate drags against the slab, or a picket cracks loose after one of our spring windstorms works the fasteners free.
Which ViewLux Models This Applies To
ViewLux vinyl fence systems come in a few distinct panel profiles, and the compatibility gotcha most people hit is mixing them. The classic ViewLux privacy panel uses a tongue-and-groove picket that slides into a notched top and bottom rail. The semi-private version uses a flat picket with a visible gap. You cannot swap pickets between these two systems; the rail channels are cut differently. Check the inside of a post cap or the bottom rail for a stamped mold number before calling, or measure a picket’s width. Houston’s clay-heavy soil means posts need deeper settings than ViewLux’s general installation guide assumes, especially south of the 610 Loop. We also carry OEM-matched ViewLux posts and rails alongside a quality aftermarket equivalent that uses the same wall thickness spec. The aftermarket route saves about 12 – 18% on materials and carries the same workmanship warranty from us.

Signs Your ViewLux Fence Installation Is Failing
- Leaning posts after rain. Houston’s gumbo clay expands and contracts hard. If your posts weren’t set below the 18-inch frost line or lack a concrete collar wider than the post hole, they pivot in the wet season and stay crooked.
- Gate latch that won’t catch. The post the latch mounts to has shifted, usually because it was set in soil without enough mass around it. Shimming the hinge only buys a few weeks.
- Cracked or brittle pickets. UV exposure and Houston humidity degrade cheap vinyl filler over time. ViewLux’s higher-end lines use a UV-stabilized capstock, but entry-level panels show brittleness at the corners first.
- Rails sagging between posts. This happens when posts were spaced wider than the rail’s rated span, or when a windstorm flexed the rail enough to fatigue the notch where it seats into the post.
- Gaps opening at seams. Expansion and contraction is normal, but if gaps stay open in summer, the panel was likely under-tensioned during install. Fasteners pulling through the vinyl means the panel was over-torqued.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
For Houston, a full ViewLux fence installation runs $3,500 – $9,000 depending on linear footage, post condition, and whether we’re reusing any existing concrete footings. On the low end: a straight 50-foot run with good post spacing and easy access. On the high end: 150-plus feet, gate replacement, rotten wood posts that need digging out, or a line that runs through tree roots. Every quote is line-itemed: materials, tear-out, haul-away, post setting, panel assembly, and the gate hardware. You get the written number before any work starts. If a post shifts or a panel fails inside a year, we come back under the 365-Day Done Right Promise at no charge.
DIY or Call Us?
Replacing a snapped picket or tightening gate hardware is owner-friendly work. Resetting a leaning post is not, and we’d rather tell you that before you rent an auger. A vinyl fence panel acts like a sail in Houston wind, so a post that isn’t set deep and true will fail again, usually taking the panel with it. What we’d suggest: walk the line and mark any post you can rock with one hand. That tells us where the rot or shallow setting lives. Give me the straight story on what you need, and I’ll give you the straight number on what it costs. Call (254) 527-5340 and we’ll come measure it right.

FAQs

Expect 20 – 30 years from properly installed ViewLux vinyl in Houston’s climate, with the gate hardware being the first thing to need service at about the 8 – 10 year mark. Soil movement from our clay is what kills fences early, not the vinyl itself. Call (254) 527-5340 if a section has shifted and you want a straight answer on whether it’s worth saving.
Yes, in most cases we can replace a broken rail, a cracked picket, or a failed post without tearing out the whole line. If three or more posts are moving or the panels are brittle from sun damage, replacement is usually the honest math. We’ll tell you which one applies and write the number either way.
Most Houston full-line replacements run two to three working days from tear-out to gate adjustment. Posts need time for concrete to set before panels go up, which is usually the overnight in the middle. We give you a written arrival window before the crew shows up.
Yes, we carry matching posts, rails, pickets, and gate hardware for the common ViewLux panel profiles, plus an aftermarket equivalent on the same spec. That means one visit for most repairs. If it’s an odd profile, we order it and you know the ETA before we leave the driveway.
